Elizabeth/Liz Mellon, a licensed physical therapist, recently joined the SPORT Orthopedics and Rehabilitation team. She has been working in the DFW area for the past 4 years after earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2017. Elizabeth grew up in Rochester, Minnesota as an avid soccer and basketball player. She then attended Southern Methodist University where she received a degree in Chemistry and fell in love with Texas.

Elizabeth enjoys treating a variety of general orthopedic and sports-related injuries.
She has a passion for treating pediatric and adolescent sports injuries, as she was an
athlete growing up and still enjoys playing and watching sports. Elizabeth believes
in an individualized treatment approach including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and functional activities to facilitate healing and maximize function. She is a Graston Technique Provider enabling her to detect and treat soft tissue lesions and fascial restrictions utilizing instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization as part of her manual treatments. She is also Dry Needling Certified, which allows her to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, muscular, and connective tissues for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments.

Elizabeth is proud of becoming a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in July of 2020. She is one of 767 Physical Therapists in Texas with this designation. Orthopedic clinical specialists use advanced techniques and methods to assist the patient toward optimal function through corrective, adaptive, and prophylactic management of the neuromusculoskeletal system.

In Elizabeth’s spare time she enjoys being active, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her dog, family, and friends.
